This is my favorite page. As someone who appreciates planning ahead and knowing what I'm walking into, the FAQ page is one of my first stops on a new website.
Please reach us at hello@acupuncturebymolly.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Honest answer - it might.
Technically a sharp object is puncturing the skin therefore some pain and sensations will arise. With that said, acupuncture needles do NOT feel the same as getting blood drawn or getting an injection.
If you feel anything at all, the insertion of the needle feels more like a quick pinch or prick.
And, once the needle has been inserted, there should be no lingering pain. If there is a lingering discomfort, let me know and I will adjust or remove it.
The approach I take with acupuncture treatments should be relaxing and calming for you, the patient. I will never force you to do anything that you are uncomfortable with therefore, we will have open communication and you can tell me if you need anything adjusted.
This is often one of the most challenging questions I receive, and often there's no definite answer.
My answer is - it depends on your constitution, chief complaint, health & wellness goals, & lifestyle factors.
My approach to treatment is to recommend at least weekly treatments for the first 4 weeks. In many cases, multiple sessions in one week may be recommended as well.
Parking is free outside of the office building and in the town square.
Upon your first visit, I recommend parking in the front of the building and coming through the front door. There is parking in the back of the building that I will show you once you've arrived.
You're welcome to arrive a few minutes early. There is a relaxing waiting area with comfy chairs to sit in before the treatment.
Please arrive 10 minutes early if you are experiencing issues with the completion of paperwork.
I highly recommend coming in your comfy, loose clothing. You'll be lying down on a massage table for 30-45 minutes.
No, you do NOT get naked for treatment. If I need to get to an area that is covered with clothing, I will provide appropriate coverings and gowns. For instance, for many treatments I need access to the back with the patient lying face-down on the massage table. In that case, I will step out of the room to allow you the time to change into a hospital-like gown, and lie face-down on the massage table.
If at anytime you'd prefer not to disrobe, we will discuss alternative ways to approach the treatment without having to do so.
Yes, 100%. If you use a wheelchair, please let me know ahead of time. I will direct you to the best parking and entrance into the building.
Most definitely! And, I highly recommend it! Receiving acupuncture throughout pregnancy can be very supportive with the highs and lows of the pregnancy journey. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine is very safe and effective while pregnant. Please be sure to let me know that you are pregnant so I can provide the most appropriate and safe treatment for you and the baby.
No, not as a healthcare provider; but thank you for asking.
First off, please try to do so at least 24 hours in advance.
The best way to do so is via the confirmation emails you should be receiving. A link is provided in those emails to change or cancel an appointment. If you cannot do it that way, reach out to me directly via phone, text or email and I will assist.
Please see the policy page for information about fees for no show, no call.
I highly recommend allowing yourself some time to chill and relax after acupuncture treatments. Listen to your body and see how you feel.
Yes, it is 100% fine to book an appointment before going into work or needing to run errands afterwards.
Again, listen to and feel what your body, mind, and spirit needs prior to and post-treatment.
Most likely. I highly recommend receiving your first couple acupuncture sessions before tacking on other modalities. Once you know how your body responds to the acupuncture treatments, incorporating other modalities within the same day can be appropriate, and oftentimes very beneficial.
